According to the most recent Chinese reports, the charging rates of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be improved. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are capable of up to 27W of charging with a cable and up to 15W of charging wirelessly with MagSafe, but this year's models are expected to go even farther.

According to reports, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will enable 20W MagSafe wireless charging in addition to 40W cable charging. Naturally, those are peak rates, and they won't be reached for a very long period throughout the charging procedure.

Since that's what most people worry about, it remains to be seen how raising the peaks would affect the actual charging time for both technologies on these phones. Even so, it's encouraging to see Apple increasing its charging speeds if this works out (and that's a huge if). It's still a long way from Chinese firms' commonplace 120W wired and 50W wireless peaks, but it's a start.

However, the source of this report asserts that the purpose of the greater peak rate charging is to make up for future improvements in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max's battery capacity; in other words, Apple wants them to charge at least as quickly as their predecessors, albeit having larger batteries within.

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max were reportedly going to acquire these precise advancements in charging, along with the adoption of stacked battery technology, which enables larger capacity and longer lifespans, according to a rumor that surfaced roughly a year ago.

As usual, Apple is scheduled to reveal the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus in September, along with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
