Netflix has decided to terminate the Basic plan in both France and the United States. Users will be forced to choose between the more expensive Standard plan or the less expensive ad-supported tier when the less expensive ad-free plan is discontinued.
The business made the statement in its Q2 financial report, stating that the modification was initially tested in the UK and Canada. Users have reported the change from many countries already, and it appears to be official now.
Netflix withdrew the $11.99 Basic plan for new subscribers, but let paying customers keep it. The Basic plan was discontinued for US consumers. They are now being steered into a new plan as well, the less expensive one being an ad-supported $6.99 plan.
$15.49 (Standard) or $22.99 (Premium), which supports more devices and streams in 4K when available, are the least expensive options without advertisements.
Netflix's quarterly report disclosed two further adjustments. It will no longer measure its performance in terms of new subscribers but rather in terms of growth by regional revenue. Presently, it is testing advertising that shows up on the Pause screen (for ad-supported tiers only).
