A person close to Reuters who is familiar with the situation claims that Spotify intends to launch a more costly subscription plan shortly. Though to be fair, we've been hearing about a more expensive tier for a while, the latest information indicates Spotify may be getting close to implementing it.

Naturally, HiFi audio streaming will be available with the new subscription package, which will also provide more sophisticated tools for organizing and managing song libraries and playlists. Depending on the area, the plan is reportedly $5 more expensive on average. For most places, that translates to a price rise of roughly 40%.

Spotify increased the price of its US subscription plan by $1 lately in an effort to boost its profit margin. But that only applies to the one plan. The family bundle costs $3 more than the Duo plan, which costs $2 more.
