Between April and June of this year, 34.4 million tablets were shipped worldwide, a 22.1% yearly growth. The fact that the shipment numbers are approaching pre-pandemic levels indicates that the demand for tablets has now successfully recovered.
In the second quarter, Apple shipped 12.3 million iPads, increasing its market share to 35.8%. With the release of the new 11" and 13" iPad Air and iPad Pro models, Cupertino saw a global increase in market share. China was the lone exception, as Apple suffered from strong coemption from regional brands Huawei and Xiaomi.
With 6.9 million shipments during that time, Samsung rose to second position and gained a 20.1% market share. With 2.5 million shipments and a 7.3% market share, Lenovo finished in third place. Huawei shipped 2.3 million tablets, gaining 6.8% of the market thanks to the high demand for its most current MatePad series of smartphones.
Xiaomi, with 2 million shipments and a 5.8% market share, was the fifth-ranked vendor. It claimed the greatest YoY growth of 94.7%, with notable increases in several European areas.
