Although Apple has a reputation for providing lengthy software support periods for its iPhones, the business has never formally committed to a set number of years. In the world of Android, however, this is entirely different. Almost every manufacturer of devices makes some sort of software support pledge, with Google and Samsung leading the pack with seven years of support for their respective flagships.

Due to recent legislation in the UK, Apple was compelled to declare a minimum support window for the iPhone 15 family, which includes the iPhone 15 Pro Max shown in the screenshot below. The company decided to go with five years. That is undoubtedly two years less than its primary rivals, but there's a catch: Apple guarantees to deliver on this at the very least.

Nothing is preventing the business from continuing for much longer than five years, as it has occasionally done in the past. Remember that this is just Apple stating the minimum duration and not that it will terminate support after five years.

We had to learn about this information in a roundabout manner. Still, at last, we have some word from Apple regarding this issue, even though it still needs to be formally publicized to the public as the makers of Android devices do. It does, however, provide us with a benchmark against which to measure the Android competitors.
