With the introduction of its first tablets with OLED screens, Apple has undoubtedly improved the quality of the display significantly. Nevertheless, a few early users are expressing problems with the panel. A peculiar grainy problem is shown by several Reddit threads.

The majority of the viewpoints originate from user forums, and neither Samsung Display nor Apple has yet to formally address the matter. According to accounts, artists find the grainy image very unpleasant, especially when it's seen up close.

It is speculated that there could be a misalignment problem of the two components of what Apple refers to as a "tandem OLED display". Some users speculated that it might be the so-called mura effect, which is evident on all OLED panels—including smartphones—but is more noticeable on the iPad due to the iPad Pro's and the 13" iPad Pro's comparatively lower 264 ppi.

It's highly likely that this is the same problem that certain Galaxy S24 Ultra phones experienced earlier in the year. In essence, Samsung attempted to claim that it was a feature rather than a bug before releasing a patch. We'll be keeping an eye on Apple's strategy and making sure to closely examine whether our review team acts in the same manner.
