According to a fresh rumor from China shared. The iPhone 16 Pro, which will be released later this year, will have a 20% brighter display than its predecessor.

However, we are not talking about top HDR brightness; rather, this is the usual brightness mentioned in the report. The iPhone 15 Pro has a usual brightness of 1,000 nits, but the iPhone 16 Pro is believed to be capable of reaching 1,200 nits.

The peak High Brightness Mode appears to remain unchanged, though there may be some misunderstanding over the numbers - manufacturers often cite the number they want, but there are now other modes to consider. There is manual brightness, typical brightness, High Brightness Mode brightness (which appears when Auto Brightness is enabled and you are outside on a bright sunny day), and HDR peak brightness, which can be much higher than any of the others on very specific (and usually tiny) areas of the screen.

According to the source of this rumor, the iPhone 16 Pro will have the same High Brightness Mode peak of 1,600 nits as its predecessor, yet its predecessor could reach 2,000 nits, indicating some uncertainty.

It should be noted that this source has a very uneven track record when it comes to Apple-related rumors, though the account in question did correctly forecast many Apple launches, so that's something.

Anyway, it would not be shocking if Apple made the iPhone 16 Pro's screen brighter; after all, greater brightness has been a recent trend in the Android industry as well. The 1,000-nit usual brightness has remained same since the release of the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021, thus it's probably time for an increase.
