Apple Intelligence, so named because its initials are also "AI"—how brilliant is that?—was the overarching AI vision that the company unveiled yesterday. Furthermore, there was no less ambiguous assurance that the functionalities will be available at some point in the future. Now, some anticipate that Apple Intelligence may make its debut alongside the first public beta of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in July. There is no doubt that the initial developer beta, which was released today, does not contain any AI.

And as it turns out, not everyone may have access to the Apple Intelligence capabilities when they do eventually make their debut. We're not referring to the hardware-side restriction put in place by Apple, which states that only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will work together. However, it looks like there will be a waiting as well.

A waitlist, indeed. One that you will need to sign up for and hope Apple will allow you to use the Apple Intelligence capabilities as part of what will be called a "limited preview" at first. This information has been uncovered in the iOS 18 code, where the terms "limited preview" and a waitlist are explicitly mentioned.

Therefore, even if you are running iOS 18 on one of the two compatible iPhones, you better get ready to move quickly, because if you don't, you might not have access to Apple Intelligence for an extended period.
