While AI is one thing (really, two things, since, as we saw yesterday, it may refer to both Artificial Intelligence and Apple Intelligence), have you seen how many new personalization capabilities Apple included in iOS 18? It almost seems like it wants to break through years and years of "we know best" by finally offering some options similar to those of Android.

You can now rearrange the icons on your home screen and even create empty spaces—please take a seat for this one, on the screen of your home. I imagine Steve Jobs is kicking back in his grave. But there's still more! In the initial iOS 18 developer beta, the brave people at MacRumors have found that you may also remove program labels from your home screens.

You may now view the program icons alone, free of the annoying text that describes each one underneath. This feature allows the icons to expand to fill the area that the text labels formerly occupied.

Here's how to enable this if you're a developer using the latest iOS 18 beta and haven't worked it out yet. To save your modifications, navigate to your home screen, press and hold an empty spot, select Edit from the menu in the upper left corner, select Customize, then select the Large button. Finally, tap anywhere on the screen to finish. And that's it. There will be no textual indication of which app is which going forward.
